Waldport Public Library hosts Summer Reading Program 2008 for Children K-5th grade. We will meet Wednesdays at 10 am beginning June 18th. Register to earn a T-shirt with the program theme “Catch the Reading Bug @ Your Library”.   Or just drop in and enjoy the stories, programs, and activities. Tiffany Miner will continue Story Time activities for preschoolers through the summer on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

June 25th:  Yeah! The string lady is back. Anne Glover returns with her enchanting stories and string games.

 

July 2nd : That "Crafty Claudia" Freeman will be our hostess. After buggy tales she'll help you make a cool craft.

 

July 9th: Henrik Bothe will captivate you with his juggling, stick twirling, and physical comedy performances, a real crowd pleaser.

 

July 16th: Anne Louise-Sterry is another of our favorite performers. Her joy in the storytelling and singing is contagious.

 

July 23rd : Book Bingo is back! Everyone wins at this game.

 

July 30th: Curt Nelson of Slightly Illusional presents Go Wild! A program that includes magic, puppetry, and storytelling, that looks at the magic in our own backyard.

 

August 6th: Dragon Theater Puppets & Jason Ropp present "Little Bugs, Big World". In this puppet play sneaky spider wants to catch the reading bug!

Guidelines for T-Shirt Awards

     Summer Reading is open to children K-12th grade.

Programs are geared for K-5th grade. Older readers are encouraged to participate in “Reader’s Challenge.” Preschool programs will be held Thursdays at 10:30 am.

 

     • Sign up at the library beginning June 1st. Have the librarian   approve your goal. You must complete a registration to earn a shirt, but you are welcome to drop in to any programs.

 

     • When you sign up you will be given a reading Record. This is where you will keep track of the books or hours that you read. Log at least 10 hours or 10 books this summer.

 

     • Come to at least one Summer Reading Program at Waldport Library.

 

     • When you reach your goal and turn in your Reading Record, you will receive a Waldport Public Library T-shirt. Please return your Reading Record by August 31.

 

Reader’s Challenge

     Older readers, 12 and over may register to win a T-shirt also. Read 500 pages to earn your “Catch the Reading Bug @ Your Library” T-shirt.

 

     If you are interested in a book club let Jill know and we will set a time to meet. You will still want to attend some of the special performances at the library, so check it out!
