1. How much is my fine?
"New ticket" (you have not yet appeared in court): The fine amount is written on the citation. You must pay the full amount. If the fine is subsequently reduced, a refund of the difference will be mailed to you. If you are unable to pay the full amount of the fine, you must contact the Court at (541)264-7417 X 101 to set up a payment plan.
"Payment agreement" (you have set up prior payment arrangements): The minimum payment amount is $25. You may pay any amount between $25 and the full balance.
2. If I have not previously appeared in court, am I entering a plea when I pay online?
Yes, by paying online you are pleading guilty or no contest to the charges indicated on your citation, just as if you had appeared on your court date and entered a plea and payment in person, and waiving your rights to a hearing. In addition to your acknowledging a guilt or no contest plea and your willingness to pay the fine, you are also agreeing to the notation of the violation on your driver’s record and any applicable points. You may not plead "Not Guilty" through online payments.
3. If I pay online, how soon does the court get notified?
Once the payment is authorized, the court is instantly notified and you instantly receive a receipt of payment via e-mail. Payments made after business hours are processed the next business day. To ensure proper and timely application to your citation, payment is required to be made two days prior to your court date. Payments not made at least two days in advance of your court date may result in a default judgment.
4. What happens if I pay the citation after the court date or due date (late fees or other penalties) or don’t pay the citation at all?
The court has the discretion to add late fees or other penalties when violators fail to pay or appear on their court date. Failure to pay or appear will also result in notification to DMV and potential suspension of your driving privileges.
5. Is my payment secure?
Your payment is absolutely secure. With today’s technology, these types of software systems have developed a proven secure track record. The City uses a proven VeriSign website to secure the information using a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection.
6. What is the process fee?
The "process fee" is the cost for online or over the phone payment processing. This fee covers the cost of building and maintaining the website, the customer service team, and credit card fees. Paying by debit or credit card is only possible through the online service or by calling 800-701-8560. If you wish to avoid the process fee, you may pay your fine by mailing a personal check or money order to: Waldport Municipal Court, PO Box 1120, Waldport, OR 97394, or paying in person by cash or check at Waldport City Hall, 125 Alsea Highway, Waldport.
